about mrsk

MRSK is the work label for Mariska van den Brink. Indeed, that’s my name without the vowels :-).

What I love most about photography is probably that it allows you to freeze a specific moment that often won’t even be registered with the bare eye. That smile, that intimate moment, that movement or composition… I love that! To capture thát, is without any doubt my signature across a range of work that is as broad as my interests.

My focus is to capture real scenes, genuine emotions and interaction in the most aesthetic way. Not seldom that results in taking candid shots that require no or little direction nor staging. The subjects can be divers, but the outcome of my shoots is usually a set of images that tell a story. I will always strive to capture the essence of a person or scene. If I’m shooting an event or landscape, I want my photo series to simply make you feel as if you were there.

I like to be highly adaptive in my photography. To create a unique visual style for each one of my projects. This not only applies to how the picture is shot, but also to how it’s been treated to fit into a campaign or match a company’s CI. Hence the naming MRSK ‘Visuals’ and not ‘Photography’.

Lastly, the relationship with my clients is as important to me as the execution of the actual job. I believe in long term collaboration and good positive energy on the ‘workfloor’. If we haven’t met yet and you feel I could be the right person for your next project, please drop me a line for a meet & greet over coffee! contact form

prints

I truly believe that nothing does more justice to an image than a beautiful print. For everyone who loves the texture and detail of an archival print as much as I do, I sell a selection of African landscapes and portraits as prints. The prints are signed and numbered in limited editions and produced with great love for the craft.

Works are available as single prints or framed. You choose. The raised wooden float frames lift the image slightly and leave space between the paper and the glass. Feel free to pop into my studio at Auckland Park to see examples!

Please drop me a line via the contact form if you’d like to see more selected work for print and for information on pricing.
